Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture moving. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November 17,
1978. She is Englishand is Welsh- -, Irishand Scottish. Rachel began acting at
thirteen. She was already appearing in Shakespearean plays in summer theater
camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
After appearing in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998), she starred
in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that chronicles the struggles and
triumphs of a Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she won the Gemini award.
The role of Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004), instantly became a top-rated
actress on Hollywood's most sought-after young actresses. After that she
co-starred with Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas
Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). This was a huge hit at the box office
and became the most loved romantic drama for the young crowd. After the film
was completed, McAdams and Gosling became romantically involved and dated
through the middle of 2007. McAdams and Gosling soon found themselves together
and began to date. After appearing in The Lucky Ones, a military drama State of
Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams was a co-star with Jude Law
and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock
Holmes. McAdams was the fiery producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also
played Owen Wilson's romantic fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then
returned to the romantic drama genre with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum.
McAdams also appears alongside Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well
as Noomi Rapace plays Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma’s thriller.
