Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. The couple relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five, where she attended the Dragon School. Emma decided she wanted to act at when she was six years old. She trained for several years at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her singing, dancing, and acting. By the time she reached the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead role in various Stagecoach productions as well as school productions. In 1999, casting started for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight auditions consistently Producer David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three leads: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen debut. The film was the highest-rated film of 2001 in terms of weekend and opening day sales. The performances of the film and of its three young actors were highly praised by reviewers. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely published, described Emma's performance as "admirable." Later, Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film. She won the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a feature Film. Following the debut film of the highly popular franchise, Emma became one of the most well-known actors in the world. In the ten years that followed she was the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma received two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her performance in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
